Finally got around to taking some new pictures of the car, this time with a digital camera. I think these turned out a lot better than the original scans. The wheel at the bottom shows what the original wheels looked like before I replaced them.

Thanks for the informative site and pictures of your 560SEL. I've just purchased an 88 560SEL and your site was one of the resources I used while making the decision. The pictures are great and the car specs were helpful as well.

My 1990 W126 creaked from movement between the door line trim inner face and the door step cover and I stuck some soft felt fabric (pre-glued with  peel off backing tape) to the very bottom of the door lining trim and this solved it. I did all four doors and not a sqeak or creek since. Good luck. Let me know the result. Charles.
