Lion Country Safari

This is supposedly the original drive-thru zoo in the United States. It's definitely a lot better than traditional zoos and far better than Sea World. Best of all, it's only a little over an hour from Miami. I have not yet been to Busch Gardens so I can't compare, but this zoo is refreshingly "natural" and beer advertising free.

The entrance has a small entertainment area with a petting zoo, shows and boat rides. Most of the exhibits are appropriate for smaller children. But the main attraction is the drive through zoo with several animal display areas.

This is my second trip here. I have a ton of pictures also on-line from my previous visit to Lion Country Safari as well as a more recent visit.

Beautifull pics of our park,

As a staff member here at Lion Country Safari, I am glad you and the other commentor enjoyed our park. Its good to know our hard work, dedication and LONG hours working with the animals, and in my case, people too, are apprecated. We hope you left with a greater respect for wild animals and animal conservation (since thats part of my job to instill in you).

P.S.
The parrots pictured on your page are:
Scarlet Macaw - Willow, she's my girl :)
Blue and Gold Macaw - Picasso, he doesn't like me as much :(
How do I know? We banded them, on the feet, so by looking on left or right feet, or in Picasso's case both, we can tell who they are.

My 91-year-old mother (at that time) and I visited your zoo in 2004.  It was the highlight of our trip around the coast of Florida.  The convenience of driving thru afforded my mother the chance to see everything without having to walk.  She died just this Spring and in looking at the pictures we made on that trip, I want to thank you for providing an enjoyable place to visit.  What good memories I have of being there with my Mother.  Thank you.  Joyce Ann
