Around The Dells

This was my first trip to the Wisconsin Dells since I was around 12 years old. My wife had never been here. My memories of The Dells were not entirely pleasant. I was dragged by my parents to this cheesy place several times in my childhood. Back then it was a bunch of lame amusement parks, one water park, the Ducks and the Tommy Barlett Show.

I was pleasantly surprised to find the cheesy exhibits and rides are mostly gone but the good stuff is still there. It was a pleasure to now take my own kids to The Dells.

I wish I could be as positive about the dining. We went out for a nice dinner at the Isnala Restaurant overlooking Mirror Lake. The menu looked good but we were all consistently underwhelmed by the food. It definitely has big city prices but not even close to big city quality. The view of the lake wasn't that good either.

I have eaten at the Paul Bunyan restaurant in the past (while staying nearby a couple years ago) and the food there was attrocious. If you want ALL you can eat and don't care about WHAT you eat, that's the restaurant for you.
